Quick Start Guide


PAGES

Adding Pages & Content

  • To add a new page, click “Pages
  • Click “Add New
  • Choose whether you want this to be a “top level” page i.e. one that appears in the main menu or “under a page” i.e. a sub page underneath another page.
  • Select standard “Page” if you are wishing to simply add a standard content page
  • click “Create
  • Give your page a “Page Name” and “Navigation Label” in the relevant boxes
  • Click the left hand box of these below to create your content area and then start adding content.

  • Click “Save as Draft” or “Save and Publish” depending whether you want to save the site to look at before publishing or "Save and Publish" if you want to publish your new page.

Adding Asset Listing Pages

  • Go to "Files" first of all create a folder by clicking "Add Folder". Once in the folder, upload your files you wish to display on this page. To do this, click "Upload Files" at the top and then select the file from your computer and double click on it to upload it.
  • To add a new asset listing page, click “Pages”
  • Click “Add New”
  • Choose whether you want this to be a “top level” page i.e. one that appears in the main menu or “under a page” i.e. a sub page underneath another page. In your case, you’d want to select “under a page” and then select the Finance page as the one to put it under.
  • Select “Asset Listing Page” if you are wishing to add a Asset Listing Page
  • click “Create”
  • Give your page a “Page Name” and “Navigation Label” in the relevant boxes
  • Click the “Page Settings” tab
  • Where it says “Media to show” select “All Assets in a folder”
  • Where it says “Settings for chosen Assets”, click the dropdown and find the folder you created in Files in the first step where your files reside.
  • Click Save and Publish at the bottom.

Editing Pages

  • To edit a page, click “Pages
  • Click on the page in the list you want to edit
  • On the right hand side of your screen, click into the "Blue content box" and then edit your text as you would in Microsoft Word or similar tools. A toolbar should appear when you click into the blue box to allow you to format your text how you wish.
  • Ensure you Click “Save as Draft” or “Save and Publish” depending whether you want to save the site to look at before publishing or "Save and Publish" if you want to publish your new page.

 

Adding Links To Other Websites

  • To add links to your page, click “Pages
  • Click on the page you want to add a link in to
  • Type the text you want to call the link into the content area
  • Select the text you’ve just typed into the page
  • Click the “insert link” button
  • Type in the URL (website address) of the website you want to link to i.e. www.bbc.co.uk
  • Click OK
  • Click “Save as Draft” or “Save and Publish” depending whether you want to save the site to look at before publishing or "Save and Publish" if you want to publish your new page.

Adding Links To Other pages on your website

  • To add a link to another page on your website, click “Pages
  • Click on the page you want to add a link in to
  • Type the text you want to call the link into the content area
  • Select the text you’ve just typed into the page
  • Click the “insert link” button
  • Click "Link to page on site
  • Click on the Page you want to link to
  • Click "OK" to save the link
  • Click “Save as Draft” or “Save and Publish” depending whether you want to save the site to look at before publishing or "Save and Publish" if you want to publish your new page.

Adding Links To Files (already on server)

  • To add links to files to your page, click “Pages
  • Click on the page you want to add a link in to
  • Type the text you want to call the link into the content area
  • Select the text you’ve just typed into the page
  • Click the “insert link” button
  • click “Link to File on Server
  • A view of all the files will then be shown on your screen. From here navigate your way round the folders (folders are listed along the top grey row) and then the files in those folders are listed in the bottom section) and then select the file you want and click “OK”
  • Click “Save as Draft” or “Save and Publish” depending whether you want to save the site to look at before publishing or "Save and Publish" if you want to publish your new page.

Adding Links To Files (not on server yet)

  • To add links to files to your page, click “Pages
  • Click on the page you want to add a link in to
  • Type the text you want to call the link into the content area
  • Select the text you’ve just typed into the page
  • Click the “insert link” button
  • Click “upload” along the top
  • Click “Choose File
  • Pick the file on your computer you want to upload and then double click on it.
  • Click “Send it to the server” and wait for the Uploaded/Smiley face message.
  • Click the “link info” tab along the top
  • Click “Link to File on Server
  • Find the file you want to link to and then click on it
  • Click “OK
  • Click “Save as Draft” or “Save and Publish” depending whether you want to save the site to look at before publishing or "Save and Publish" if you want to publish your new page.

Adding Images (already on server)

 Please follow the instructions on how to upload a file in the section below to first upload your photo.

  • To add an image to your page, click “Pages
  • Click on the page you want to add a link in to
  • Select in the content editor where you want to add the image by clicking with your mouse
  • Click the “Add Image” button on the toolbar
  • Click “Browse Server
  • Find the image you want to add to your page and click on it
  • Click “OK” (unless you want to change additional formatting like height and width etc in which case, change these before clicking OK
  • Click “Save as Draft” or “Save and Publish” depending whether you want to save the site to look at before publishing or "Save and Publish" if you want to publish your new page.

Adding Images (Not yet on server)

  • To add an image to your page, click “Pages
  • Click on the page you want to add a link to
  • Select in the content editor where you want to add the image by clicking with your mouse
  • Click the “Add Image” button on the toolbar
  • Click the “Upload” tab
  • Click “Choose File
  • Pick the image on your computer you want to upload and then double click on it.
  • Click “Send it to the server” and wait for the Uploaded/Smiley face message.
  • Click the “Image info” tab along the top
  • Click “Browse Server
  • Find the image you want to insert and then click on it
  • Click “OK"
  • Click “Save as Draft” or “Save and Publish” depending whether you want to save the site to look at before publishing or "Save and Publish" if you want to publish your new page.

 

FILES

Uploading Files

  • Click on “Files” along the left hand side
  • Click on the folder you want to upload the file in to
  • Click the “upload” button
  • Find the files you want to upload and click on them and click “open” and then the file will get uploaded.
  • If you do want to upload multiple files then click the first file you want to upload and then press and hold down the “ctrl” key on your keyboard to select other files (you can unhold down the ctrl key when you have finished selecting the files you want to upload), or if you have a group of files that are all one after each other then you can click on the first file you want to upload and then hold down the “shift” key and find the last file you want to upload. Once either of these has been done click “open” at the bottom of the box and it will automatically start the process of uploading.

Re-ordering Files (to take effect in an Asset Listing widget)

  • Click on “Files” along the left hand side
  • Click on the folder you want to re-order the files
  • Tick the "Allow Drag and Drop Re-ordering" tick box ( and then the list of files will come up for you to re-order. You can then simply drag the order of files into the order you want them.


 

EVENTS

Adding Events

  • Click on “Events” on the left hand side menu
  • To add a new one click “Add Event
  • Give your event item a title, fill in your content and give it a start date and end time. On this screen you will also need to enter in a location of the event. Input your postcode and then you can use the "Find Address" option to find the address of the location of the event. 
  • If you want to add images to your event then you will need to click the “Images” tab along the top and then add them either from your computer and upload them or from the File Store. If you know the file has been uploaded to your One Suffolk website then click on "From Files". From here, you will see a box with all the files and images already uploaded. Find the file you want, click on it and then click "Attach Files". Click "Save" when done. If you want to upload and attach an image to your event item then click "From Your Computer". From here a view of your computer will appear, find the file you want to upload and double click on the file and then click "Save"
  • click “Create

 

NEWS

Adding News

  • Click on “Blog Posts” on the left hand side menu
  • To add a new one click “Add Article
  • Give your item a title, fill in your content and give it a published date and author.
  • If you want to add images to your news item then you will need to add them using the “Image” section at the bottom and either upload it from your computer or use images already on the system in the File Store.  If you know the file has been uploaded to your One Suffolk website then click on "From Files". From here, you will see a box with all the files and images already uploaded. Find the file you want, click on it and then click "Attach Files". Click "Save" when done. If you want to upload and attach an image to your news item then click "From Your Computer". From here a view of your computer will appear, find the file you want to upload and double click on the file and then click "Save"
  • click “Create

CAROUSELS

Setting up Carousels and Assigning them to a page

  • Click on “Elements” down the left hand side
  • Click on “Carousels” along the top
  • Click “Add Carousel
  • Give your Carousel a Title by typing into the “Title” box.
  • Leave the “Slide Animation” and “Slide Transition” as they are if you are happy with the default options
  • Select the “Show Slide Controls” and the “Show Slide Indicator” tick boxes
  • Click “Create
  • Click “Add Slide
  • If you want text to overlay your image then type something into the “Title” and “Slide Text” boxes. If you don’t want text to overlay it then leave it blank.
  • Likewise if you want your slide to link to another website or page on your website then type text into the “Link/Button Text” and “Link Button URL” fields.
  • Under the Image Section, Choose whether you want to upload a new image from your computer or whether you want to use one from the File store. If you want to upload a new image then click “From Your Computer”, find the file you want to upload and double click on it and then it will upload it and add it to the Carousel.
  • If you want to use a file from the File Store then click “From Files
  • Browse round the File Store and find the file and click on it and then click “Attach Files
  • You can add as many images to the Carousel as you wish.
  • Click “Create” when you are done adding your images.
Setting the Carousel on the page
  • To add the Carousel to your page, click on “Pages” along the left hand side
  • Click on the page you want to set it on – usually the Home Page
  • Click “Page Settings
  • Click the “Show Carousel” box
  • Where it shows “Choose a Carousel” click the name of the Carousel you set up in the previous part of the process.
  • Click “Save as Draft” or “Save and Publish” depending whether you want to save the site to look at before publishing or Save and Publish if you want to publish your new page.

 

WIDGETS

 

Widgets are elements that can be added to your site that allows you to show information in a different location on the website – usually in a left or right hand navigation bar.

Widgets are set in what we call “Widget Areas”. These are groupings of 1 or more widgets that will get displayed together. These widget areas get set on any individual page.

To have widgets displaying, you must set the page layout to either "Sidebar left" or "Sidebar right". To do this click on the page of your choice, click "Page Settings" and then set either "Sidebar left" or "Sidebar right".

To access widget areas click on "Elements" on the left hand side and then click on "Widget Areas" along the top. 

Adding the Widget Area

  • To create a new Widget Area, click "Add Widget Area"
  • Give your widget area a title by typing into the "Title" box
  • Click "Create" and you can then start adding widgets immediately.

Adding Widgets

As there are over 20 widgets available on the system i won't detail them all here. In this example i will show you how to add an Asset Listing widget.

  • To add a widget to the widget area you have just created (or indeed to one created before)
  • Click the "Add Widget" button
  • Give your widget a Heading for example "Agendas 2018" and type this into the "Widget Heading" box
  • If you want the title to be shown at the top of the widget tick the "Show Widget Heading" box
  • Also ensure that the "Active Widget" tick box is ticked so that the widget works!
  • On the "Choose Field Type" box, click on this and in this example select "Asset Listing Widget"
  • Click "Create"
  • As with most widgets once you click Create it then extends the page to show you more options. In this example it will add Dropdown boxes called "Media to show" and a "Folder" option as well as an ability to add files.
  • If you want your widget to show all the files in a set folder then click on the "Media to show" dropdown and select "All Assets in a folder" then also click on the "Folder" dropdown and select the folder you want your widget to show. Click "Save" when done.
  • If you want your widget to show a selection of files from different folders  click on the "Media to show" dropdown and select "Choose Assets to show" and then where it says "Choose Files", click "From Computer" if you want to upload new files or if you want to use files already in the system click "From Files" and then select the relevant files
  • Click "Save" when done.
