He was was possibly the greatest botanical explorer and plant collector of the 19th Century and a close friend of Charles Darwin. These works will be exhibited alongside other contemporary botanical paintings by these leading artists. Some of the paintings have been specially flown in from Japan, Singapore and USA. Overall, there will be 50 artworks on display as well as a large range of prints. In addition there will be live demonstrations in the gallery by some of the artists every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday throughout the exhibition:- Botanical Art is a unique discipline requiring specialised training and watercolour techniques, so this will be a rare opportunity to see how the artists go about their craft.
